Pierre Naigeon is the fifth-generation winemaker and is based in Gevrey-Chambertin. Although his family has been making wine for generations, this estate is relatively new. It all started in 1991 when Pierre was given 1 hectare of vineyard by his family. He soon expanded this to 11.5 hectares and also bought some grapes for his production of several white wines. Pierre is known for producing micro-plots separately, producing 10 different Gevrey-Chambertins, for example. He also uses many biodynamic practices and, since 2018, the wines are produced without sulphites.
The wines are produced in oak barrels with around 20% new wood, this can go up to 60% new wood for the grand crus. Pierre recently sold the estate and currently the new owners are putting their own stamp on it. We were able to taste the new wines early this year and they are phenomenal. A beautiful expression of terroir and impeccable.
