Carelle Sous La Chapelle is a Premier Cru vineyard in the Volnay appellation producing exclusively red wines.
This vineyard lies just southeast of the village of Volnay. As the name suggests, it lies below the chapel with the Premier Cru En L'Ormeau to the northeast and Champans to the southwest.
Paul Pernot has a plot of 0.24ha the wines are generally lighter than those from Champans but with more finesse. The vines are on rocky soil that changes to a greater clay content at the bottom of the slope.
The wine is aromatic and lush. Rich flavours in the middle pallet with mainly red fruit, spice and earthy notes. The lovely tannic structure provides excellent balance.
