Productinformation
Les Chalumaux is a Premier Cru vineyard in the northwest corner of Puligny-Montrachet. The vineyard is one of the highest and northernmost in the appellation and lies on the border of Meursault and Blagny. In fact, the vineyard occupies the same part of the slope as the climat Perrieres (Meursault), with which it shares a similar terroir.
The 5.8-hectare vineyard also includes the 1.6-hectare Sous le Courthil lieu-dit, located at the very north-west of Les Chalumaux itself.
The soil on this part of the slope is austere, knobby and exposed to wind. The wines, especially in youth, can show equivalent character traits. The nose does not yet give much blood on the palate: elegant, delicate, spicy and floral with citrus and green peach and mineral undertones.
