Productinformation
Hameau de Blagny is a Premier Cru vineyard for both the Puligny-Montrachet and Blagny appellations in the Côte de Beaune. Red wines from this vineyard carry the Blagny title, while white wines from Hameau de Blagny carry the Puligny Montrachet label.
The vineyard is located on the northern border of Puligny, high on the slope of the Côte d'Or wall, with Premier Cru vineyards such as Les Folatières and Les Combettes below and Sous le Puits above.
Hameau de Blagny's unique character is defined by its high elevation, which provides good exposure to morning sunlight and delayed ripening due to cooler nights. The vineyard has dry, light soil with stony limestone deposits, which ensures healthy vines and a flinty, stony character in the wines. The vines are 42 years old and the wine is 25% matured in new oak barrels. The Hameau de Blagny wines are tighter and lighter than other Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru wines such as Chalumeaux, with a clearer mineral backbone and a long-lasting finish with notes of peach and honeysuckle.
