Productinformation
Domaine Alvina Pernot. In 2018, Alvina established her own négoce, growing grapes from her grandfather's vineyards. After a rigorous selection of which plots best suited her own style, she began production. Alvina wants to make wines with a bit more tension and therefore seeks grapes from higher-altitude plots. Moreover, she prefers to pick earlier to preserve more freshness and tension. From the debut 2018 vintage, Alvina Pernot no longer used new oak. All wines matured on their lees in used barrels, mainly from François Frères, until they were transferred to be bottled.
Champ Canet consists of several lieu-dit. The eponymous Champ Canet is the largest, separated by a line of bushes from two small plots to the west. One is known as 'La Jaquelotte' and the other is said to be an extension of the Clos de la Garenne, southwest of Champ Canet.
Although not as steep as some vineyards further south in Puligny, La Jaquelotte has a good view of the countryside to the east from this position and thus gets good exposure to the morning sun. This helps with ripening and post-rain drainage, which improves concentration.
