Productinformation
Pouilly-Fuissé, Aux Charmes replaces the appellation Pouilly-Fuissé, En Ronchevat.
‘Aux Charmes’ is a new cuvée from the 2022 vintage and was created by merging the “Aux Charmes” and “En Ronchevat” climates and the part of the “En France” climat that was not classified as 1er cru.
The plot is 1.07ha, stands on a gentle slope with southern orientation, 300 to 330 metres above sea level. This terroir has the highest clay content in all of Pouilly-Fuissé, this very particular vein creating a shallow layer of Triassic clay. The vineyard is in its third year of organic conversion.
Manual harvesting began on 4 September after a particularly hot and dry growing season. From February temperatures were high, late frosts in April came as a surprise but had no consequences. A very wet June saved the canes from dying in an otherwise extremely dry year. The summer was the second warmest since 1947.
Vinification takes place in traditional 228-litre barrels, 15% of which are new and 30% young barrels the wine undergoes full spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The wine then matures for a further 11 months on lees in barrels. Blending takes place in stainless steel tanks and the wine matures there for a further 5 months on the fine lees before bottling.
Production: 5,087 bottles and 160 magnums
Pale gold in colour, aromas of ripe stone fruit dominate the nose complemented by acacia, toasted almonds and brioche. On the palate, the wine is generous with nice balance and long finish.
