Productinformation
La Grande Rue is the showpiece of the domain, 'their' monopole is located between La Tâche, La Romanée-Conti and La Romanée. Domaine Nicole Lamarche thus owns the entire vineyard! This vineyard in the southern half of Vosne-Romanée is just 1.65ha, making it one of the smallest appellations in France. The vines were planted in 1979.
The terroir is similar to its better-known neighbours, the gravelly limestone soils and eastern aspect making it perfect for Pinot Noir. Because the proportion of clay is low, the soil drains well but at the same time retains enough water for the growing season.
Due to its location, the vineyard takes full advantage of the sun. This helps the grape achieve the right ripening in Burgundy's cool climate. The grapes a good balance of acidity, which makes for high-quality red wines with longevity.
Within this piece of Vosne-Romanée by far the best value-for-money wine you can find whose image has been soaring in recent years. A sheep in wolf's clothing with enormous but subtle power. Very Vosne-Romanée with a lot of potential.
