Productinformation
Domaine Jean Pascal is located in Puligny-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune. The estate has 15 hectares spread across Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay and Auxey-Duresses. It produces 75% white wines and 25% reds. It is a classic estate with a modern edge. The wines are made in the typical Burgundy style and do not try to pretend to be anything other than what they are. A producer of class with elegant wines.
Meursault produces white wines almost exclusively from the chardonnay grape. Its wines are known for being among the richer, fuller Burgundy wines. Tastings often mention notes of butter, almonds and toasted hazelnuts, alongside finer citrus and mineral elements - the geological differences between the commune's vineyards are clearly reflected in the wines.
This Meursault is made from grapes from 3 lieu-dits: Clos du Cromin, Le Corbin (both N-E, near Pré de Manché) and Les Vireuils (extreme north-west). The total area amounts to less than a hectare, the vines are on average 32 years old and stand on a limestone/clay soil.
After pressing, the wine goes into 228L barrels to rest and stabilise. This is also where the alcoholic and malolactic fermentation will take place. The wine then matures for a further 11 months in oak, after which it is racked and aged for another 4 to months in barrel before bottling.
Lots of stone fruit, think apricots and ripe peach. Precise and focused on the palate, with lots of fresh fruit and buttery character.
