The Hermitage Rouge Classic 2021 is normally a blend of two parcels (Bessards and Les Plantiers). But in 2021, Bessards suffered hail in August, which meant yields here were decimated. So the heart of this wine comes from Les Plantiers, just below Le Méal. Like the Crozes Hermitage, this is fully de-stemmed - a marked departure from the domaine's usual style. It is juicy, briny, crisp and fresh. The floral notes make it more accessible than the Gréal and mean it should also open up a little earlier.
