Domaine Alvina Pernot. In 2018, Alvina established her own négoce, growing grapes from her grandfather's vineyards. After a rigorous selection of which plots best suited her own style, she began production. Alvina wants to make wines with a bit more tension and therefore seeks grapes from higher-altitude plots. Moreover, she prefers to pick earlier to preserve more freshness and tension. From the debut 2018 vintage, Alvina Pernot no longer used new oak. All wines matured on their lees in used barrels, mainly from François Frères, until they were transferred to be bottled.
Corton Charlemagne is a Grand Cru vineyard located in the village of Aloxe-Corton, on the highest slopes of the south-western part of the Corton hill in the Côte de Beaune. It lies in the communes of Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses and Ladoix-Serrigny, with Chardonnay as the only authorised grape variety. The wines are intense, mineral-rich and powerful.
