Productinformation
The Clos St. Marc is located opposite the estate on the lower part of the slope. The vines stand in fairly deep brown earth on a soil of white and yellow marl. This geological composition plays an important role in the wine's flavour profile and retains moisture efficiently. The Clos St. Marc is 0.93 ha in size and is the smallest monopole appellation in Nuits-Saint-Georges.
The vines are 60 years old and provide an average annual production of 4,000 bottles.
Fermentation lasts about three weeks in open stainless steel tanks and then matures for 18 months in oak barrels, about 50% new.
The deep, dark and intense colour foreshadows the powerful nose. Where wild cherries dominate, along with typical warm earthy notes. A full body, with incomparably silky tannins provide rich fleshiness.
This is a wine with a strong personality. The balanced finish makes an impression of opulence and unparalleled length is supported by minerality and beautiful complexity.
