Productinformation
The Clos des Argillières is located opposite the estate at the top of the slope. The vines are in poor brown earth on a subsoil of pink Premeaux limestone at the bottom of the plot, and white oolite at the top. At 1.8ha it is, the domain's largest plot.
The vines are 50 years old and provide concentration with an average annual production of 7500 bottles
Fermentation takes about three weeks in open stainless steel tanks and then matures for 18 months in oak barrels, about 50% new.
The wine in dark purple in colour. The nose is elegant and is dominated by dark fruit, think blackberries, blackcurrants and blueberries. But certainly also a raw edge of juniper and hawthorn.
Without sacrificing elegance, the flavours are deep and concentrated. Fine tannins provide firmness supported by a welcome minerality.
