Productinformation
A white Nuits-St-Georges? Yes indeed, and what a one! And it's true white wines are rare in this area. Traditionally made from Pinot Blanc, this wine also contains 90& Chardonnay.
The 1.3ha plot is located in Premeaux, on the slope above the red parcels of Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru. In a section with white sandy, oolitic soil with an abundance of limestone. The soil is light, well-drained, easy to work, and dotted with white stones. Only a white wine would work well on this type of soil.
The vines are about 15 years old and produce an average of 6,500 bottles a year.
After the manual harvest, the grapes are pressed whole, fermented and aged in oak barrels - 20% of which are new - for 12 months. The wine is then assembled in stainless steel tanks for a further 4-5 months before bottling.
Pale gold with green hues in its youth and gradually becomes more golden as it ages. Initial aromas are light and floral that evaluate to ripe citrus fruits and sour clementines. As the wine ages, the aromas change to white peaches and elderberries.
On the palate rich with recognisable freshness, the Chardonnay provides structure and a lovely aroma. The Pinot Blanc adds complexity. The wine impresses with its depth, richness, complexity, length and individuality.
