Productinformation
The plot is located in the southern part of the appellation, just before the break leading to the Clos Vougeot. The soil consists of shallow, well-drained soil combined with round river stones brought down by a prehistoric river.
The vines are on average 60 years old and produce about 2,000 bottles a year.
Fermentation lasts about three weeks in open stainless steel tanks and then matures for 18 months in oak barrels, with about 50% new oak.
The nose is dominated by small red fruits, especially raspberries and sour cherries. From sip one the concentration you would expect from a 1er cru with full body and the silky tannins the appellation is known for. Subtle support of minerality provides remarkable complexity.
