Productinformation
The domaine's plot (0.75ha) is in the southern part of the appellation, at the corner of the wall separating Les Echézeaux from Clos-Vougeot in a place called ‘les Baudes Basses’.
Sixty per cent of the vines were planted in 1944 and the rest are from 1992. What is unique is the length of the rows. As much as 200 metres long and on 3 different soils.
- Stony soil with lots of clay
- Soil with many small stones, high content of red clay, rich in iron oxide
- Finer soil with clay and silt
In Burgundy, this is often called a ‘cuvée ronde’ because it encompasses all soil types found in the appellation. The diversity of terroirs produces a rich, dense wine that is much closer to the roundness and finesse of Vosne-Romanée than to the power of Clos-Vougeot in the north of the appellation.
Long fermentation, gentle extraction, 20 months aging in 60% new oak.
