Les Vergelesses 1er cru also known as Les Basses Vergelesses. Although Chardonnay is also allowed in this appellation, in practice the wines are almost always made from Pinot Noir. It is located on the southwest side of the village, on the border with Savigny-Lès-Beaune.
Delarche's plot is 0.62ha in size and lies on the middle of slope with east orientation. . The 25-year-old vines are on a clay-limestone soil.
The grapes are 100% destemmed and the wine matures for 16 months; 13 months in oak barrels (30% new) and 3 months in stainless steel before bottling.
Intense but balanced, blackberry fruit, liquorice and violets with earth notes, concentration and crystalline minerality.
