Productinformation
The Crozes-Hermitage appellation is much larger are Hermitage and covers a large area on the east bank of the river, north and south of the town of Tain L'Hermitage. The area north of the town of Tain L'Hermitage benefits from a favourable mesoclimate and heat-retaining granite rock under predominantly clay-limestone soils.
Here, Marc Sorre produces richer, more complex wines than those from the flatter areas to the south, where alluvial soils are more prevalent. None of these vineyards benefit from the higher altitude or sunshine hours that the more southerly hills to the north do.
Sorrel's Crozes Hermitage comes from its 60-year-old vineyards in Larnage. Wonderful aromas of violets, dried herbs and cassis. On the palate ripe, full and creamy with tremendous length on the finish. Wines are made without racking or filtering before bottling. Definitely worth a search!
