As a 22-year-old, Lorraine Senard Pereira took over the estate from her father in 2000. 2002 white was her first independent harvest, followed by the reds in 2005. Indeed, her wines do differ from those of her father, Philippe Senard. Today, those wines are markedly softer and more harmonious. Today, Comte Senard once again offers the ample assurance of a true high-class Burgundy. Lorraine Senard produces about six grands crus from the Corton hillside, of which the monopole Clos de Meix offers the peak result at 1.64 ha.
Although it is generally thought to be an appellation for red wines made from pinot noir, about five per cent of Corton wines consist of chardonnay, which is sold as Corton Blanc. Clos de Meix contains both grape varieties, although its white grapes are blended with others to produce a Grand Cru Corton Blanc. Corton Blanc is considered one of Burgundy's best white wines, famous for its combination of fruit flavours and mineral character.
