Productinformation

Winemaker Marie-Ange Robin is the fourth generation of winemakers in the family. It was her father Guy who, plot by plot, bought and planted Chablis vineyards in the 1950s and 1960s - at the time, many winemakers left Chablis because viniculture in this cold region was too difficult. But it was Marie-Ange who took the winery to great heights.

Domaine Guy Robin boasts a rich, if not the richest, collection of old vines. About 80% of the wine from the vines - spread across five grand crus and four premier crus are 'Vieilles Vignes'.

These old vines, and traditional vinification methods ensure that there are few Chablis wines with as much character, concentration and complexity as Marie-Ange's wines. The wines are across the board; seductive, rich and unctuous.

This fantastic vineyard (13.14ha) is located at the southern end of the famous grand cru row in Chablis, at the mouth of a valley. On a steep east-facing slope with white soil (hence the name), facing Montée de Tonnere across the valley. This location, well exposed to cool airflow and the sun falling away early in the afternoon, provides a cooler site and allows the grapes to ripen slowly and fully. This extra time produces a Chablis with incredible depth and complexity that exudes finesse rather than power.

Owning just 0.2ha, the estate's few vines are among the oldest in Chablis, many over 100 years old. This means the vines produce very few grapes but with enormous concentration. Only 1,000 bottles are produced annually!

Chablis in optima forma.
