Productinformation
Domaine Creusefond is a relatively small family business based in Auxey-Duresses. Vincent is a third-generation winemaker who has partnered with his father Alain Creusefond since 2001. The estate covers just under 12ha (9,000 vines/ha) in the villages: Auxey-Duresses, Meursault, Monthelie, Beaune, Volnay and Pommard.
Domaine Creusefond produces wines with fantastic value for money. Alain believes the terroir should speak without too much embellishment. The percentage of wood depends on each cuvée but will not exceed 35%.
Poruzot is an 11.4ha Premier Cru vineyard, on the middle slope of the Côte d'Or wall. The terroir is dominated the limestone. The vineyard is divided into three lieu-dits: Porusot Dessus, Le Porusot and Porusots Dessous.
Creusefond's plot is located in Porusot Dessus, which is the highest of the three lieu-dits. This is a relatively thin strip of land with an eastern orientation, running along the slope between Les Genevrières to the south and Les Bouchères to the northwest. At the top of the slope, the soil is shallow and limestone is close to the surface, this poor soil is therefore considered the best location within Poruzot. It produces intense, concentrated wines.
