Since Jean-Pierre Cournut took over the business from his father in 1993, the estate has been revitalised and the wines are among the very best in the region. The wines are bottled in the Château's old 15th-century cellars.
2022 was a great vintage for Cournut, more precise and terroir-driven. Harvesting occurred between Aug. 25 and 31, and yields were more generous than 2021. Extraction time for red wines was increased from 17 to 19 days to 25 to 28 days. Bottling took place in February 2024.
Clos du Chateau is the plot right in front of the Chateau itself where both white and red wines are produced. The soil is clay-limestone with a southeast orientation, this exposes the grapes to extra sunlight which provides both richness and minerality.
An equally ripe and fresh nose with notes of spice, pepper, earth, plum, berries and subtle wood suggestion. Enticing and exciting medium-body flavors with distinct minerality and structure.
