Productinformation
Clos de la Garenne is a small Premier Cru vineyard (1.5ha) in the northern part of Puligny-Montrachet. It is next to the well-known Puligny vineyards Les Folatières (SW) and Les Perrieres (E. The name should not be confused with La Garenne or the lieu-dit Sur la Garenne, 500m further up the slope near Blagny.
It has light, calcareous soil that lends itself perfectly to viticulture. The limestone in this part of the Côte de Beaune gives the wines a stony, complex minerality.
Clos de la Garenne is located on the middle slope of the Côte d'Or, although the slope here is much less pronounced than in the vineyards further up the hill. Does the southeast orientation provide plenty of sunlight, this ensures perfect ripening.
Clos de la Garenne is certainly not Puligny-Montrachet's best-known vineyard but the quality of the wines here speaks volumes! The Clos is shared with Dom. Duc de Magenta by Louis Jadot and was planted in 1956. The wine has power with floral notes in the nose. In the mouth it is, meaty and broad but not without elegance, nice mineral acids in the background.
