Productinformation
Domaine Alvina Pernot. In 2018, Alvina established her own négoce, growing grapes from her grandfather's vineyards. After a rigorous selection of which plots best suited her own style, she began production. Alvina wants to make wines with a bit more tension and therefore seeks grapes from higher-altitude plots. Moreover, she prefers to pick earlier to preserve more freshness and tension. From the debut 2018 vintage, Alvina Pernot no longer used new oak. All wines matured on their lees in used barrels, mainly from François Frères, until they were transferred to be bottled.
Chevalier-Montrachet owes its terroir to its high hillside location. The limestone soil is much thinner than that of lower Montrachet and contains more marl. The grapes are intense and concentrated, making for balanced, high-quality wines that can age for many years. Chevalier-Montrachet is often considered the producer of some of the best grand cru white wines in Burgundy, after Montrachet itself.
