Domaine Alvina Pernot. In 2018, Alvina established her own négoce, growing grapes from her grandfather's vineyards. After a rigorous selection of which plots best suited her own style, she began production. Alvina wants to make wines with a bit more tension and therefore seeks grapes from higher-altitude plots. Moreover, she prefers to pick earlier to preserve more freshness and tension. From the debut 2018 vintage, Alvina Pernot no longer used new oak. All wines matured on their lees in used barrels, mainly from François Frères, until they were transferred to be bottled.
Puligny's largest 1er Cru vineyard (17 hectares) and considered one of the finest, on the same slope and contour as Montrachet and Chevalier-Montrachet. The vines were planted in the late 1930s. Folatières means "folles-terres" in old French and was once considered a haunted place. The Pernot plot is in the lieu-dit of Peux Bois (1.5ha), meaning "ugly forest", next to the En la Richarde plot. This lies just above the slope of Le Cailleret and next to Les Demoiselles, north of Chevalier-Montrachet. The soil is a thin layer (less than 20 cm) of clay and limestone on a subsoil.
