Domaine Alvina Pernot. In 2018, Alvina established her own négoce, growing grapes from her grandfather's vineyards. After a rigorous selection of which plots best suited her own style, she began production. Alvina wants to make wines with a bit more tension and therefore seeks grapes from higher-altitude plots. Moreover, she prefers to pick earlier to preserve more freshness and tension. From the debut 2018 vintage, Alvina Pernot no longer used new oak. All wines matured on their lees in used barrels, mainly from François Frères, until they were transferred to be bottled.
La Pièce Sous le Bois is a Premier Cru vineyard on the southern side of the Côte de Beaune. It lies within the Meursault border, so white Chardonnay wines fall under that appellation. White wines from the vineyards in Blagny differ from other examples of Meursault wines. They tend to be lighter with spicy, floral characters and herbs. Many have suggested that Meursault wines from Blagny fill the gap between Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, both stylistically and geographically.
