A relatively unknown estate about which little has been written. Domaine La Truffière par Robert Comte is currently run by Robert Comte with the assistance of Laeticia Falci. For him, it is all about the terroir and the winemaker must do everything possible to make the grape perform optimally. Once in the cellars, the wines are classically raised and some are kept for longer periods.
This 37.7 hectares is located in the village of Flagey-Echézeaux, just north of the famous vineyards of Vosne-Romanée. From the lower (eastern) end to the higher slopes, the wider vineyard covers land stretching from the edge of the Clos de Vougeot and Grands-Echézeaux to where the Côte d'Or vineyards give way to forest. The lower parts of Echezeaux tend to have heavier clay soils and poor drainage, a consequence of both this soil type and its proximity to the lower valley area.
