Productinformation
With the Moulin à Vent, La Roche 2019, Domaine Thibault-Liger Belair has proven its commitment to making excellent Burgundy wines. Owned by the Liger-Belair family since 1720, this domain has a rich history of 250 years. In 2001, Thibault joined the company and took over the vineyards, transforming the domain into the renowned Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair. Before that, Thibault studied vinification and oenology in the Beaujolais at the Moulin a Ven. He also worked for a communications company in Paris. In 2001, Thibault decided to follow his true vocation and start making wine himself.
The 2.25ha of vineyards are located at the top of the Moulin à Vent hill, about 50 metres from the mill itself. The vines are old, planted between 1920 and 1945. What makes this terroir unique is a combination of pink granite in the soil and exposure to cold north winds, giving this cuvée a lovely freshness.
The grapes are harvested by hand, with 40% whole bunch. Fermentation lasts 3 weeks in open vats with very gentle extraction. The wine matures in barrels for a period of 15 months. 100% Gamay!
