Vincent Durrieu is the fifth generation of the family to work the estate and continue the very traditional Burgundian methods. And it is a noble tradition. Domaine Potinet-Ampeau is one of the few domains that makes wine for aging and keeps its vintages in its own cellars to allow them to mature properly before release.
The vineyard is located just southeast of the village of Volnay, across the road. It lies (as the name suggests) just below a chapel. The wines are generally considered slightly lighter than those from En Champans, with more finesse. Both sites have more rocky soils further up the slopes, with clay increasing as you descend.
