Productinformation
Echézeaux is a Grand Cru vineyard on the slopes above the Clos de Vougeot vineyard. It is a large vineyard of almost 40 hectares, of which Lamarche owns 1.07 hectares.
Echézeaux is divided into 11 lieu-dits and the soil composition, as one might expect in a vineyard of this size, varies widely. So where the vines are planted is very important.
Nicole produces her Echézeaux Grand Cru in Les Champs Traversins also known as Little Citeaux. A 3.6ha lieu-dits on a steep slope in the far west of Echézeaux. The vines were planted in 1979, the soil is quite shallow and consists mainly of sand and gravel. This combination makes the grapes quite concentrated.
