Perrot-Minot's Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2021 showcases the top quality of this esteemed producer. Perrot-Minot is a Burgundian winery with a rich history, known for making wine with great care and attention to the terroir.
The soil consists mainly of a thin reddish weathered limestone layer. This layer is stony and marl-rich, dotted with rock points indicating broken soil. Roots can penetrate this very deeply and provide a mineral signature.
Planted in 1989, the vines produce refined wines, with the mineral character of the soil enhancing the freshness of the wines in a very refined way.
The 2021 growing season began with two devastating frosts that threatened the harvest. The winter was relatively mild but frosts returned again in early April. Fortunately, this did not last long and a period of fine weather provided good conditions for flowering. July was characterised by heavy rainfall and persistent humidity. Dry and brilliant weather in September ensured optimum ripening and harvest began on 23 September.
This erratic year produces wines of great finesse and elegance with exceptional freshness and wonderful volume on the palate. Both elegant and classic, this Charmes-Chambertin is a refined wine that promises 20 years of pleasure or more.
