This estate has a rich family history dating back to 1720. Since 2001, Thibault Liger-Belair, the owner of Domaine Thibault-Liger Belair, has been at the helm. Thibault has a very specific vision, which you can clearly see in the vineyards but also in the cellar. His passion for terroir translates into the different wines produced and that a separate vinification method is used for each wine. For example, he takes over the 'Tonnellerie de Mercurey' two days a year to select the perfect toasting for each wine. In 2003, Thibault started négoce activities with the aim of producing wines belonging to the Liger-Belair family. Since 2008, the estate has also owned the Domaine des Pierres Roses in the Moulin à Vent. Thibault, who himself studied in the Beaujolais, is particularly passionate about the region and wants to highlight its quality.
Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair is 7.5 hectares in size. When the harvest begins, the estate chooses to harvest twice. The first time, the best grapes are picked, which are used for whole bunch maceration. The second time, the remaining grapes are picked. The art is in the vinification and use of wood, which is considered separately for each plot. Thibault's wines are elegant and expressive; a gem in the SOMMTIMES range.
