Productinformation
This small vineyard (0.3ha) is located on the middle slope of the Corton hill, facing south-east, and is considered one of Corton's most prestigious climates.
Planted in 1956, the vines are on very calcareous soil on the lower slopes and much more clayey soil on the higher slopes, which is the exact opposite for the rest of the Côte de Beaune. This peculiarity is due to a limestone fault in the middle of the plot, which means that the chalk of the parent rock returns more to the lower part of the Renardes hillside.
The grapes are harvested by hand, with 40% whole bunches. Fermentation lasts 3 weeks with very light extraction. The wine then matures for 20 months in oak, 60% of which is new oak.
The wine is powerful and has a lot of depth, also a lot of freshness due to the limestone-rich soil. Wonderful length with berry fruit, spices and silky tannins.
