Productinformation

As a 22-year-old, Lorraine Senard Pereira took over the estate from her father in 2000. 2002 white was her first independent harvest, followed by the reds in 2005. Indeed, her wines do differ from those of her father, Philippe Senard. Today, those wines are markedly softer and more harmonious. Today, Comte Senard once again offers the ample assurance of a true high-class Burgundy. Lorraine Senard produces about six grands crus from the Corton hillside, of which the monopole Clos de Meix, with 1.64 ha, offers the highlight result.

Le Clos du Roi is a highly regarded climat of the Corton Grand Cru appellation in the Cote de Beaune district of Burgundy. This walled site - roughly translated, the name means "the king's walled vineyard" - lies high on the eastern slopes of the Montagne de Corton hill. The classic red Corton wine is rich and relatively tannic, meaning it is quite austere in its youth, but develops well with age. Tasting notes of Corton often refer to flavours of violets, blueberries, leather and earthy notes.
