Corton Charlemagne is a Grand Cru vineyard located in the municipality of Aloxe-Corton, on the highest slopes of the south-western part of the Corton hill in the Côte de Beaune. It lies in the communes of Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses and Ladoix-Serrigny, with the only authorised grape variety being Chardonnay. The wines are intense, mineral and powerful.
Delarche's plot is 1.07ha with partly east,- and partly west orientation. The soil consists of the famous clay-limestone, where especially the limestone influences the wine, the vines are 40 years old.
The wine matures for 16 months, 13 months in barrels (40% new) and 3 months in stainless steel, before bottling.
