Productinformation
This grand cru, located on gently rolling terrain, is one of the sunniest and earliest maturing parts of the Gevrey-Chambertin terroir. As a result, this plot often reaches its optimum ripeness a few days before the Chambertin climate.
The soil of this terroir consists of impeccable white limestone, which is exceptionally permeable and ensures optimal drainage for the vines. Beneath the limestone is another marl layer with occasional rocky outcrops.
The old vines (75+ years) together it this terroir, rich in mineral nuances and sunshine, produces wines with great complexity and exceptional aromas.
2022 was marked by striking climatic contrasts. A rainy autumn was followed by a frosty December. Spring brought unusually mild weather and spring was also particularly mild, culminating in May, which was the warmest in 50 years, encouraging vigorous growth. The summer was one of the hottest since 2023 with several heat waves.
Harvest began on 31 August in summer temperatures. Despite the extreme conditions, it produced wines of great finesse and remarkable elegance, with outstanding freshness and generous volume on the palate.
