Productinformation
Chambertin is indisputably considered one of Burgundy's five best grands crus. Its central location on a gently rolling, slightly cool and windy hill gives it an inimitable texture.
The deep subsoil is subtly covered with limestone chalk and silt, which has formed here over millennia, and has remarkable water-draining capacity. The vineyard is slightly less steep than Clos de Bèze, benefits from cooler breezes brought in by the nearby Combe Grisard, which brings winds from the hills. Ideally oriented east a therefore it benefits from the sun (especially the morning sun).
The crimson colour of this wine, its aromatic bouquet and hints of red fruit indicate exceptional fullness of flavour.
2022 was marked by striking climatic contrasts. A rainy autumn was followed by a frosty December. Spring brought unusually mild weather and spring was also particularly mild, culminating in May, which was the warmest in 50 years, encouraging vigorous growth. The summer was one of the hottest since 2023 with several heat waves.
Harvest began on 31 August in summer temperatures. Despite the extreme conditions, it produced wines of great finesse and remarkable elegance, with outstanding freshness and generous volume on the palate.
