Productinformation
With the Bourgogne Rouge, Les Grands Chaillots 2018, Domaine Thibault-Liger Belair has proven its commitment to making excellent Bourgogne wines. Owned by the Liger-Belair family since 1720, this domain has a rich history of 250 years. In 2001, Thibault joined the company and took over the vineyards, transforming the domain into the renowned Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair. Before that, Thibault studied vinification and oenology in the Beaujolais at the Moulin a Vent. He also worked for a communications company in Paris. In 2001, Thibault decided to follow his true vocation and start making his own wine.
The provenance of the grapes used to make this cuvée give the wine an ageing potential better than what one would expect from the Burgundy appellation. It is a surprising wine, both in terms of length and structure. This wine is a blend of grapes from the villages of Nuits-Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny. One plot in Nuits-Saint-Georges covers one hectare with vines planted between 1978 and 1986, while the two-hectare plots in Chambolle-Musigny were planted between 1954 and 1962.
