Domaine Alvina Pernot. In 2018, Alvina established her own négoce, growing grapes from her grandfather's vineyards. After a rigorous selection of which plots best suited her own style, she began production. Alvina wants to make wines with a bit more tension and therefore seeks grapes from higher-altitude plots. Moreover, she prefers to pick earlier to preserve more freshness and tension. From the debut 2018 vintage, Alvina Pernot no longer used new oak. All wines matured on their lees in used barrels, mainly from François Frères, until they were transferred to be bottled.

The location of Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet at the foot of the slope means the soil is slightly richer and deeper than in the plots above. It still consists of the same limestone and marl as the more prestigious vineyards on the slopes above, but there is a greater proportion of clay. The soil is still so thin that the vines have to work hard to survive. They dig their roots deep into the limestone in search of hydration, a process believed to add minerality to the finished wines. As a result, the wines are slightly less focused and structured, and slightly heavier, but often with more power.
